An astrophotography workshop is an event where photography enthusiasts learn the ropes about capturing the night sky on film or screen. Most professional and amateur astronomy discoveries are made by studying high resolution images of the subject. There are specialised techniques that are used to photograph objects at near infinite distances with very low light intensities. Besides the night sky, the workshops will cover the art of photographing solar eclipses, sun spots, solar flares and occultations.
Astrophotography workshops are a new concept in India. GTM is bringing you this concept through its Knowledge Centre. Workshops will be held at different venues across India to give enthusiasts all over the country a chance to benefit from them. They will typically last for two to three days and will cover both theory and practicals.
The venue chosen will typically be a flat ground away from bright city lights. Participants will get hands-on experience on telescopes, mounts, laptops and software. These will be provided by GTM. You are welcome to carry along your camera, tripod, T-mount, telescope, laptop or any other equipment that you want to use.
Astrophotography training will be provided personally by Nilesh Vayada, who will be supported by a team of experts. Nilesh is a proficient astrophotographer who has mastered the art of celestial photography for over 15 years. His total solar eclipse photograph of 1995 won him an award by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
